Formation and promotion of community-owned organizations of smallholder farmers/ marginalized communities/ Self Help Group (SHG) women is a major focus area of SDS to build sustainable community organizations at the grassroots. Collaborating closely with both government and non-government entities, SDS supports the formation, development and capacity building of community groups such as Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).
SDS plays a pivotal role in forming and promoting community-owned organizations such as Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Producer Groups (PGs), Self Help Groups (SHGs), and Cluster Level Federations (CLFs). These organizations are fundamental to SDS’s strategy of collectivizing small and marginal farmers, women, and other marginalized communities to create economies of scale, strengthen bargaining power, and improve access to markets, finance, and resources.
One of SDS main goal is to equip rural communities with the tools they need to manage their enterprises effectively, improve productivity, and adopt sustainable practices, which we help them achieve through:
SDS conducts numerous training programs aimed at building the technical and managerial capacities of FPOs, PGs, SHGs, and CLFs. These training sessions cover various aspects of business development, such as financial management, governance, market linkages, and value chain management. By providing Training of Trainers (ToT) and livelihood promotion workshops, SDS ensures that local leaders and members can spread the knowledge to others in their community.
SDS delivers practical, hands-on training to farmers, enabling them to adopt improved agricultural practices, enhance productivity, and manage risks. These programs cover areas such as climate-resilient agriculture, pest management, and value-added processing.
We also provide training programs on governance, record-keeping, and financial transparency are conducted to ensure that these organizations are well-managed and able to meet the challenges of running successful enterprises.
