Tata Steel Foundation, in collaboration with SDS, has been actively supporting producers in Keonjhar district by raising awareness about various government schemes. This proactive engagement has generated significant interest among participants in the DMF Fisheries Project. To build on this enthusiasm and provide a deeper understanding of the project, an orientation program was organized at the Keonjhar Headquarters. The session was attended by 11 participants from the Tata Steel Foundation, who demonstrated a keen interest in the initiative.
The program offered a comprehensive overview of the DMF Fisheries Project, focusing on its core components such as fisheries culture in existing ponds, development of new ponds, implementation of biofloc systems, and the adoption of cage culture techniques. It also emphasized community engagement through Gram Sabhas, group formation, and technical training, alongside outlining the selection criteria for ponds and biofloc systems and the documentation processes for participation.
SDS played a pivotal role in the orientation, leveraging its expertise to provide detailed insights into the project framework and implementation strategy. Its contributions included guiding participants on best practices, facilitating the alignment of roles among stakeholders, and ensuring clarity on project execution. The session effectively empowered participants with a clear understanding of their responsibilities and the collaborative efforts required for the project's success.
