I Mr. Bishorjit Hijam is an accomplished professional in the field of fisheries extension with over a decade of dedicated experience. Born on March 3, 1987, in Imphal, Manipur, I have carved a niche for myself through my expertise and commitment to advancing aquaculture and fisheries management. My academic journey began in Imphal, where I completed my secondary education at Savio English School, then pursued higher secondary education at City Montessori Higher Secondary School, demonstrating a keen interest in the sciences. My passion for fisheries led me to Assam Agricultural University, where I obtained my Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.F. Sc) degree. My further specialized in Fisheries Extension by earning a Master of Fisheries Science (M.F. Sc) from Central Agricultural University, Tripura. Professional Career- My professional career marked me significant roles in various esteemed organizations. Began as a Laboratory Attendant at the Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development, where I honed skills in handling sophisticated laboratory equipment and conducting molecular analysis, then I served as a Junior Research Fellow at the College of Fisheries, Central Agricultural University, where I was involved in exploring fish fauna in the North Eastern Hill region of India and conserving endangered fish species. In 2017, I joined France Economic of Commerce and Promotion International (FECPI) India Pvt. Ltd. as a Technical Sales Executive, providing critical technical support to farmers in Orissa. My role involved improving fish and shrimp culture practices, ensuring better productivity through effective water quality management and disease control. My expertise and leadership qualities were further recognized when I joined Sesta Development Services (SDS) as a Subject Matter Specialist in fisheries. Here, I was instrumental in developing fisheries training programs and setting up fisheries practices in villages to enhance community income. My dedication and performance led to my promotion as an Assistant Manager at IB Group: ABIS Exports India Pvt. Ltd., where I played a pivotal role in market expansion and dealer point creation in North East India. Currently, I serve as the Term Leader cum Senior Consultant at Sesta Development Services (SDS) based in Tripura. In this role, I lead a team of professionals, coordinating and supervising project activities to ensure timely and effective delivery. My responsibilities include liaising with key stakeholders, providing training and capacity building, and preparing comprehensive reports and presentations.
